I don’t think I really knew how important protein was. Aside from helping you build muscle, protein is an important food that can also help you feel full. Aside from that, protein is beneficial for your hair, skin, and immune system, and getting enough of it can help you stay alert and active all day.
When possible, I try to eat protein-rich foods with every meal and in between meals. I have to have nutritious snacks every day because I love them. And there are many snacks, from ready-made treats to simple handfuls, that have a beneficial amount of protein in each dose.
I could probably list my fifty favorite snacks, but I chose just six that are high in protein and will help me stay fed on busy days.
Beef Jerky Chomps
Last year, I tried Chomps beef jerky snack sticks for the first time, and I’ve been addicted ever since. I appreciate the use of simple ingredients in its production. Before I tried the Chomps Original Beef Stick, I didn’t believe beef jerky sticks could taste fresh. It’s a breeze to pack, and I can’t go camping without it. The best part is that each dish has 10 grams of protein.
You can buy this brand at Wegmans, Costco, Trader Joe’s, and Target. Along with the original beef, I also really enjoy the tangy Italian-style beef sticks.
Cashews Pickled with Dill Planters
Without a doubt, my favorite nut is the cashew. I particularly enjoy dipping them in chocolate, as demonstrated in my Dark Chocolate Cashew Clusters recipe. I also love how they taste more subtle and creamy. Additionally, studies have shown that cashews can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as improve the health of your face.
I recently went to Pittsburgh in July for their annual pickle festival, which was appropriately named Picklesburgh. I ate a lot of foods that tasted like dill. Just imagine how thrilled I was when I found out that Planters sells Dill Pickle Cashews. Wow is all I can say. Because each handful is a burst of pickle-y goodness, I don’t know what to say.
My favorite snack is this one, which has 4 grams of protein per serve. I look forward to having it on hand.
Justin’s almond butter with cinnamon
You can make almond butter into a spread that is easy to make and full of protein and fiber. Eating nut butter every day can help you get more fiber and fats that are beneficial for your heart. If you have never bought almond butter before, I strongly suggest that you check out Justin’s almond butter goods.
Although they cost a bit more than store-brand versions, I believe the smoothness and simple ingredients make them well worth the extra money.
The taste of Justin’s Cinnamon Almond Butter is my favorite. Even though it is sweeter, each serving contains only 3 grams of added sugar and 6 grams of protein. I love adding this cinnamon almond butter to apple slices and rice cakes to make them more crunchy.
Vanilla Yogurt with Protein from Yoplait
Yoplait’s new line of high-protein yogurts has been at the top of my shopping list ever since I tried them. I love that I can alter the flavor of Yoplait Protein Vanilla. One of my favorite healthy meals is topped with blueberries and granola. Also, they’re excellent just the way they are for an effortless snack to grab and go.
Each cup has 15 grams of protein. I also like putting one of these single-serve yogurt cups in the freezer for a low-sugar treat that tastes delicious and is great for you. Delicious frozen yogurt with no work? Please sign me up!
The trail mix is sweet and spicy, and it tastes good.
Going back to salty snacks, I love spicy trail mix, but it doesn’t always have enough nutrients to make me feel my best in the middle of the day. I found their Nice Sweet & Spicy Trail Mix on a normal trip to Walgreens, and eating it is a dream come true. Sweetened peanuts and Cajun-seasoned corn sticks exemplify the “swicy” flavor.
Because there are different kinds of nuts in this mix, each handful has about 5 grams of protein, making it a healthy choice. If you don’t live near a Walgreens, it’s simple to make a sweet and spicy snack mix at home by adding your favorite spices to our recipe for Homemade Trail Mix.
The hummus at Park Street Deli
When it comes to healthy snacks, hummus has everything you need. You should always keep it in the fridge. Chickpeas form the basis of this dip, which boasts high fiber, protein, and a delightful tanginess that complements a variety of veggies. It’s simple to make at home (especially with one of our top-rated recipes), but I keep my favorite store-bought hummus on hand for days when I don’t feel like making it.
By far, the best prepared hummus I’ve ever had is Park Street Deli Hummus, which you can find at Aldi.
Dill Pickle is my favorite, but don’t run out to buy it because it’s been difficult to find lately. While I continue to search for my favorite pickle hummus, I find myself drawn to the garlic-topped hummus and the spicy hummus. If I want to stay full until dinner, I like to eat 3 tablespoons of Park Street Deli hummus with bell peppers and carrots.
That’s because each tablespoon has 1 gram of protein.
