Costco’s Massive New Food Court Sandwich: A Surprisingly Delicious Treat

People love the food area at Costco because it has cheap, safe food. Many people go there to get a heavy meal, like the $1.50 hot dog combo or the creamy chicken bake. But it’s not always a good thing when new food courts open.

Many Costco fans have been less than impressed with their latest efforts to make artisan-style sandwiches, such as roast beef, turkey, and Swiss items.

When I heard the Chicken & Bacon Sandwich was new, I had to give it a try. Happy holidays to people who love bacon! But some people online have said bad things about the sandwich.

Lots of people on Reddit have said bad things about it. Some have said it’s “below mid,” and others have said it’s “cold, thick, dry, and crumbly.” I wondered if this sandwich lived up to all the bad reviews.

What’s In The Chicken And Bacon Sandwich?

For the first time at Costco, they have a ciabatta bread sandwich with thinly sliced oven-roasted chicken breast, bacon jam, lettuce, tomato, and a mayo-mustard mix. The price was $6.99, the same as the turkey and Swiss sandwich, but $3 less than the roast beef sandwich.

At first glance, the sandwich looks heavy and well-made. It has two slices of cheddar cheese, a small piece of tomato, and a large leaf of green lettuce. The ciabatta bread holds everything together, and the bacon jam is spread out flat on top of the fluffy top. It’s big enough to share and looks a lot like the picture.

How Does It Taste?

While some people didn’t like the Chicken and Bacon Sandwich, I did. I thought the bread would be dry, but it wasn’t. It’s thick and served cold. The bacon jam tastes spicy and goes well with the mayo and mustard mix. After being cooked, the chicken was juicy, and the pieces were just the right size.

The one tomato slice wasn’t necessary, but the rich cheddar cheese made it taste better. I agree that the taste might have been better with a softer and butterier brioche bun and some very thin red onion slices to add some zip.

Does It Live Up To The Hype?

People didn’t like the sandwich as much as I thought I would, but I did. Saying it is “below mid” or “out of touch” is too harsh. Costco’s food is usually easy and cheap, but this new meal might differ.

I wouldn’t eat it very often because it has too many calories (920) and salt (more than the daily dose). You could try it if you like bacon, though. It could be cut in half so you and a friend can share it.

Last Thoughts

Many people don’t like the chicken and bacon Sandwich at Costco, but I think you should give it a try if you’re interested. You might not eat this every time you’re in the food court, but bacon fans who don’t mind a little extra will enjoy it.
