McDonald’s Long-Awaited Bigger Burger Is Finally Hitting Menus—Here’s What We Know

There was a lot of excitement when McDonald’s finally showed off its newest item: the “Big Arch,” a bigger and more filling burger. Some places around the world, like Canada and Portugal, are releasing the new burger.

This rollout comes more than eight months after McDonald’s first talked about its plans for a bigger, tastier burger at its December 2023 annual investor meeting.

Meeting The Needs Of Customers For Bigger And Tastier Burgers

Chris Kempczinski, CEO of McDonald’s, stressed during the announcement that the choice to make the burger bigger was based on customer desire. A lot of McDonald’s customers wanted burgers that were bigger, with more filling ingredients, and didn’t cost too much.

“We think we’re going to be able to deliver a great tasting large burger at a superior value than what [customers can get anywhere else,” Kempczinski said to show that the company was committed to meeting these needs.

What’s So Great About The Big Arch?

The Big Arch is made for people who like to eat a lot. Two quarter-pound meat patties make it up, which is a lot more than the famous Big Mac’s smaller patties.

Together with the big patties, the Big Arch comes with three slices of white processed cheese, crispy onions, pickles, lettuce, and a new spicy sauce that was made just for this burger. The goal of putting these items together is to make a tasty and satisfying meal.

Putting the Big Arch next to other McDonald’s classics shows that this new burger is going to be a hit. The Big Mac has smaller meat patties and about 590 calories. The Quarter Pounder with Cheese has about 520 calories and uses the same quarter-pound patties as the Big Arch.

It is believed that the Big Arch will be bigger and maybe even have more calories than the original. This will make it a good choice for people who want a heartier meal.

Canada’s Big Hit

Canada is one of the first places to sell the Big Arch. Chief Marketing Officer for McDonald’s Canada, Alyssa Buetikofer, was excited about the new item on the menu. “We have heard our guests loud and clear and understand they are looking for a bigger burger on our menu,” she told us.

“This satisfying burger combines the familiar McDonald’s flavors our fans know and love with some unique new ingredients, including a tangy new burger sauce created for the Big Arch specifically.”

What To Expect From A Global Rollout

Even though the Big Arch isn’t available yet in the US, McDonald’s will closely watch how well it does in the first few areas where it comes out. The comments and results from these test launches will be very important in deciding if the Big Arch will be brought to more countries, such as the US.

A Treat For U.S. Customers This Holiday Season

There’s still something to look forward to, even if people in the US have to wait a little longer to try the Big Arch. McDonald’s has brought back the Pumpkin and Crème Pie, a favorite fall treat.

Some major markets across the United States now carry this fall favorite. These include places like Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Dallas, and Nashville, Tennessee.

In the Pumpkin and Crème Pie, there is a flaky pastry shell that holds a wonderful center of pumpkin and vanilla crème. Indulging in the tastes of fall is easy with this pie, which has 280 calories.
